VACANCY: MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Location: Zimbabwe Oreways is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Mechanical Engineer to support its mining and mineral processing operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design, install, commission and maintain mechanical equipment used in mining and mineral processing operations.

Supervise and support the maintenance of crushers, screens, conveyors, pumps, mills and other processing equipment.

Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes.

Diagnose mechanical and equipment failures and conduct root-cause analysis.

Inspect machinery and identify potential mechanical faults before they result in equipment failure.

Support the installation, commissioning and optimisation of new mining and processing equipment.

Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability and productivity.

Provide technical support for hydraulic, pneumatic and rotating equipment.

Prepare maintenance schedules, technical reports and equipment performance assessments.

Ensure all mechanical systems comply with applicable safety and operational requirements.

Work closely with electrical, automation, mining and process engineering teams.

Provide technical guidance to maintenance technicians and other engineering personnel.

Qualifications and Experience

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent recognised engineering qualification.

Relevant experience in mining, mineral processing, manufacturing or heavy industrial operations.

Strong knowledge of mechanical maintenance, rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics and industrial machinery.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment manuals and technical specifications.

Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance systems.

Strong fault-finding, analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Good understanding of occupational health and safety requirements in industrial environments.

Ability to work at mining and processing sites when required.
