QUANTITY SURVEYOR

ROLE DESCRIPTION

The Quantity Surveyor will work full time on-site in Harare, Zimbabwe, supporting projects from inception to completion.

Duties and Responsibilities

Daily responsibilities include

  • Preparing and reviewing Bills of Quantities (BOQs)
  • Conducting cost estimates
  • Monitoring project budgets
  • Providing accurate cost planning and reporting
  • Tracking expenditures
  • Analysing variances
  • Advising project teams on cost efficiency and financial risks
  • Collaborating with engineers, architects, and site managers
  • Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and in line with contract terms
  • Preparing tender documents
  • Evaluating contractor claims
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of cost management processes

Qualifications and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong cost control and cost management skills, with the ability to monitor budgets and recommend corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in preparing and interpreting BOQs, with practical experience in quantity take-offs and measurement.
  • Experience in cost planning and cost reporting, including forecasting, variance analysis, and progress reporting.
  • Relevant degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, tendering procedures, and industry-standard measurement methods.
  • Competence with quantity surveying and spreadsheet software, and strong numerical and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work on-site, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain high attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in the Zimbabwean construction sector or similar environment is an added advantage.
